As of today, Malcolm WOODMAN, contracted by CO-LaN to lead the development project of the CAPE-OPEN Test Suite, declared version 0.2.1 completed. Version 0.2.1 is not meant to be released to the CO-LaN members. It is an interim version that resolves all the issues found previously, especially through the tests made by a few CO-LaN members.

The development of the first version (prototype) of the CAPE-OPEN Test Suite was decided on June 15, 2021. This first prototype was demonstrated at the CAPE-OPEN 2021 Annual Meeting. A beta release was made on February 28, 2022. Feedback obtained from the use of the beta release proved essential in improving the design and the implementation now reached in version 0.2.1.

The scope and budget for version 0.2.1  was approved by CO-LaN Management Board on August 26, 2022. Kick-off took place on October 5, 2022 and progress has been steady ever since. Work has been completed with just a very small overrun in budget.

2023 will see another major step of the development of the CAPE-OPEN Test Suite with the integration of all the tests that are checking the compliance of Property Packages against the CAPE-OPEN interface specification. These tests are being defined by the Thermo SIG. Current plan calls for a full implementation of compliancy and best practice tests for Property Packages to be available in version 0.2.2 at the end of 1st quarter of 2023.
