Logo of EFCE, European Federation of Chemical EngineeringThe 18th European Symposium on Computer Aided Process Engineering (ESCAPE-18) was held in Lyon, France, from June 1 to 4, 2008 under the umbrella of the CAPE Working Party of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering.

The ESCAPE series brings the latest innovations and achievements by leading professionals from the industrial and academic communities. It serves as a forum for engineers, scientists, researchers, managers and students from academia and industry. The National Organizing Committee of ESCAPE 18 had members close to CAPE-OPEN, such as Chairman Bertrand Braunschweig, Stéphane Déchelotte (ProSim SA), Pascal Floquet (ENSIACET) and Philippe Vacher (RSI).

Ray DICKINSON, representing Shell which is acting as President of CO-LaN, gave a lecture on CAPE-OPEN and CO-LaN. A paper by Stalker et al. on Service-oriented CAPE recognizes that CAPE-OPEN has “done much to promote the interoperability of heterogeneous software components for Computer-Aided Process Engineering (CAPE).”
