Comments: the authors, while belonging to an organization which is an Associate Member in CO-LaN, have not used any CAPE-OPEN technology in their work. However, it is worth noting that, in the list of criteria used to compare the three simulators they considered for their study, they include “CAPE-OPEN thermo” and they indicate that all three simulators, namely Aspen Plus and Dynamics 8.6, Aspen Hysys 8.6  and gPROMS (version unknown) support CAPE-OPEN Thermo. Using the presence of CAPE-OPEN interfaces within a simulator gives credit to the added functionality provided by CAPE-OPEN. The weight and importance given to this item in the comparison remains however unknown at this stage.
