Thermo Special Interest Group meet on August 9, 2022 from 10 am till noon (Central European Time).

Agenda

  • Draft the Manager Common interface specification.

Participants

BASF (represented by Sergej BLAGOV), AmsterCHEM (represented by Jasper van BATEN), University of Cape Town (represented by Klaus MÖLLER),  Michel PONS (Consultant as Chief Technology Officer).

Highlights

A new Use Case was introduced to define how the PME checks whether a given Manager supports the creation of Primary Process Modelling Components without relying on a Template. This Use Case is taking advantage of the property SupportsCreateNew of the ICapeManager interface.

Then Thermo SIG developed the Use Case defining how a Manager creates and customizes a Primary PMC without relying on one of its Templates. This Use Case is fulfilled by the method CreateNew of the ICapeManager interface. After considering various options, it appeared necessary to introduce a new property of ICapeManager interface in order for the PME to figure out if the Process Engineer canceled the customization process proposed by the Manager as part as the execution of CreateNew. Having the Manager provide this additional information makes the PME better prepared with dealing with whatever happens during the creation/customization process of a Primary PMC.

The definition of this additional property (named LastCreateNewWasCanceledByUser) was added to the section detailing properties and methods of ICapeManager.

Thermo SIG moved on to the Use Case describing how a Manager creates a Primary PMC from one of its Templates, upon request from the PME. The description of the Use Case needs to be reviewed once more before moving to next Use Case, about restoring a Primary PMC managed by a Manager.

Next conference call scheduled for August 16, 2022 at 10 am (Central European Time).
