The Methods & Tools Special Interest Group met on November 15, 2017 from 5 pm till 6:20 pm Central European Time.

Threading model, parameters, persistence

Bill BARRETT (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency), Jasper van BATEN (AmsterCHEM), Michael HLAVINKA (Bryan Research & Engineering), Michel PONS (CO-LaN)

Decision taken to replace CapeDouble by CapeReal as data type within COBIA: reasons for this decision are consistency of naming and way forward for quad precision.

Review of the part of COBIA IDL specific to Parameter Common interface specification to incorporate the change of naming above.

Rework of the part of COBIA IDL specific to Persistence Common interface specification. A templated CapeEnumeration add/get member is added to the reader and writer classes and appropriate CapePersistedDataType enumeration members are added too.

Decision to keep the entirety of COBIA IDL in one file rather than a number of files, each per interface domain. Ease of maintenance and lack of include/insert functionality are the reasons behind this decision.

Short discussion about documentation related to COBIA following requests made by two interested parties. Status remains a DOxygen solution provided as a build into the documentation folder of the repository. Should allow 3rd parties to generate adequately the documentation from the source stored in repository.

A new schedule of conference calls has been defined and agreed upon for the four next months.

Next conference call is scheduled for November 22, 2017.
