The 2003 CAPE-OPEN award was given to Dr. Hans-Horst MAYER, one of the founders of the CAPE-OPEN initiative, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to open process simulation.
Dr. Hans-Horst MAYER can be considered as an initiator of CAPE-OPEN together with Peter BANKS from BP. At FOCAPD’94, on behalf of BASF, he supported the idea of interoperability in process simulation software put forward by Peter. As BASF, Hans-Horst was subsequently involved in the activities leading to the CAPE-OPEN project, in the CAPE-OPEN project itself and then in the Global CAPE-OPEN project.
