Research at AVT is centered on relevant problems arising from global change. Scientific challenges in the development of sustainable feedstock within the overall material value chain from resource to the tailored product are the focus of interest. The required processing fundamentals of material conversion are therefore developed in an integrated product- and process design. This involves an evolution of a systematic design strategy, which links experimental and simulative methods.

As of January 1, 2021, RWTH-AVT is an Associate Member in Group C as per the bylaws adopted on October 15, 2020.

Representatives

CAPE-OPEN related activities

As Lehrstuhl für Prozesstechnik, AVT was a member of the CAPE-OPEN and Global CAPE-OPEN projects and a founding member of CO-LaN. Lehrstuhl für Prozesstechnik took an active part in the live demo of CAPE-OPEN made at ESCAPE 9, May 1999 in Budapest, Hungary.

W. MARQUARDT and L. von WEDEL co-authored a paper at SIIT’99 (Standardization and Innovation in Information Technology) on why CAPE-OPEN and what CAPE-OPEN delivered.

G. SCHOPFER, A. YANG, L. von WEDEL and W. MARQUARDT co-authored in 2004 a paper on CHEOPS, the platform they developed in their research team and that was one of the software tools used to demonstrate CAPE-OPEN live at ESCAPE-9 in May 1999.
