Version 1.0
Initially released on April 2002.
Polished version released on November 2003
.
Important notice:
the following subsections give access to all CAPE-OPEN 1.0 specifications. You may also choose to look at each document abstract from the complete
documentation set.
After initial versions were published in 2002, several among these documents were reworked, mainly for cosmetic reasons. We give access to these polished
versions, developed by CO-LaN in 2003, which are now official after their approval by CO-LaN's Board of Directors. If you have any comment about these documents, please use the contact point shown at the bottom of all pages.
General Vision
-
This chapter contains documents that should be read first to get the standard general information such as general requirements and needs.
Unchanged from version 0.9.3
Technical Architecture
- This chapter integrates the horizontal technical materials and defines an infrastructure aiming at process simulation based on the CAPE-OPEN standards.
Unchanged from version 0.9.3. Methods and tools integrated guidelines polished in 2003 release.
Business Interfaces
-
This chapter contains all vertical interface specification documents. These interfaces are domain-specific interfaces for CAPE applications. They define CAPE-OPEN components involved in a CAPE-OPEN process simulation application. These documents are abstract specifications which create and document a conceptual model in an implementation neutral manner. Business interfaces can be roughly grouped in four categories, as shown above: numerics, unit operations, thermodynamic and physical properties, and others.
Changes in this version:
Version 1.0 updates previously published interfaces known as CAPE-OPEN 0.93 and delivers brand new interfaces. These new interfaces have not been as extensively tested as the ones previously published, therefore will be subject to updates after subsequent implementation in operational software.
Several documents polished in 2003 release.
COSE (CAPE-OPEN Simulator Executive) Interface (or PME Interface)
-
COSE (CAPE-OPEN Simulator Executive) Interfaces or PME Interfaces are horizontal interface specifications. They define services provided by CAPE-OPEN compliant PMEs. Services of general use are defined, such as diagnostics and
Material Template system in order to be called by any CO PMC using a callback pattern.
Changes in this version:
Did not exist previously. Need to be thoroughly tested.
Several documents put together in one for 2003 release.
Common Interfaces
- This chapter encloses horizontal interface specification documents for handling concepts that may be required by any business interface. This is a collection of interfaces that support basic functions and are always independent of business interfaces. They are gathered in the Common Interfaces Reference Manual. They are abstract specifications which create and document a common conceptual model in an implementation neutral manner.
Changes in this version:
Some of these specifications were published in release 0.9.3, some are new. Several documents polished in 2003 release.
Implementation Specifications
- This chapter contains the implementation of the business and common interface specifications for a given distributed computing platform. In order to produce CAPE-OPEN compliant software components, any developer has to use these official interface definitions.
Changes in this version:
Full v1.0 implementation specification available in 2003 release.
CO Tester
- A software tool designed to help you develop CO-compliant components by checking their conformity with CAPE-OPEN standards.
Unchanged from version 0.9.3
