On April 15-16, 2008, Process Systems Enterprise held its Annual Meeting 2008 dedicated to its gPROMS suite of software.
The fact that PSE is supportive of CAPE-OPEN showed up in a number of presentations made by gPROMS users. Dr Gerard van Bochove at PURAC mentioned their use of the
CAPE-OPEN Thermodynamic socket in gPROMS to make use of Aspen Properties. Frédéric Bazer-Bachi from ARKEMA mentioned the same CAPE-OPEN interface implementation as a
major point in selecting gPROMS for the development of new processes. Peter Stephenson of RWE npower described how the choice of CAPE-OPEN interface protocol was made
and successfully used in the VPDM (Virtual Plant project). Malcolm Woodman from BP advocated extension of the CAPE-OPEN interfaces to better support equation-oriented simulation
for the integration of well to facilities models.
While Costas Pantelides, PSE Managing Director, re-emphasized PSE commitment to standards and especially CAPE-OPEN, Tom Williams, Principal Software Developer at PSE, describes
enhancements in gPROMS version 3.1 as related to CAPE-OPEN. He also demonstrated live the use of a gO:CAPE-OPEN model of a tubular reactor in COFE, using either TEA or MultiFlash
CAPE-OPEN Property Packages. Tom's presentation is available here as a PDF document.
