The Italian Association of Chemical Engineering (AIDIC) has organized its eight International Conference on Chemical & Process Engineering (ICheaP-8). The Conference was held on Ischia Island (Gulf of Naples, Italy) from June 24 till June 27, 2007.

A one-hour session was devoted to CAPE-OPEN on June 25, 2007. Three presentations were made:

"Expanding the CAPE-OPEN Thermodynamic interfaces: Version 1.1" by Michel PONS, CO-LaN CTO

"ProsimPlus: new CAPE-OPEN capabilities" by Philippe GUITTARD, Alain VACHER, Stéphane DECHELOTTE and Olivier BAUDOIN, Prosim SA

"CAPE-OPEN interface revisited in term of class-based framework: an implementation in .NET" by Maurizio FERMEGLIA and Marco PARENZAN (DICAMP-MOSE, University of Trieste)

A lively discussion followed the presentations. The conference was a good opportunity to initiate and renew discussions about CAPE-OPEN with a number of participants. It was the first time in Europe that an International Conference was featuring a session dedicated to CAPE-OPEN.

The poster "Development of a Process Sustainable Prediction (PSP) framework", by Maurizio Fermeglia, Gennaro Longo and Letitia Toma, described the development and use of CAPE-OPEN compliant Unit Operation modules.
