Project description: Integration of the CO PPDB interface and the IK-CAPE PPDX format
The CO Physical Property Database (PPDB) Interface defines a standard set of interfaces for connecting thermophysical property data
bases with user programs, allowing the automatic exchange of property data and model parameters. A physical property data base in this
case is an abstract model for all types of collections with thermophysical property data and with parameters of models for calculating
thermophysical property data that have been taken from the literature, have been measured or processed in one’s own laboratory or
have been obtained from other sources. A similar objective is pursued by the PPDX file format defined by IK-CAPE, a consortium of several
large chemical companies.
Benefits achieved
The IK-CAPE PPDX file format is used by several database vendors for data export and exchange. In order to enable the use of
information specified in these files with CAPE-OPEN compliant process simulation software, a reader has been developed which is able to
read a file in IK-CAPE PPDX format and to make the contents available through a CO compliant interface. Thus, the reader component allows
software from the two worlds to be used and eases the transition from one tool to another by saving the work to retype or convert the
data existing in the files.
